The Batgirl star Leslie has ended all the rumors about Jacob Scipio playing Nightwing by announcing that he would be playing Gotham mob boss Anthony Bressi.
Last fall, it was announced that the Bad Boys For Life star “Jacob Scipio” had reportedly joined the cast of HBO Max’s Batgirl. Since, at the time, there were no details about whom he would play in the eagerly anticipated film, the lack of details led to several rumors, including that Scipio could be playing Dick Grayson in the film.
However, Batgirl star Leslie Grace has recently revealed that Scipio would not be playing Dick Grayson but Gotham mob boss Anthony Bressi. Grace indeed debunked the idea of Scipio playing as Nightwing, but the interview didn’t indicate that she had entirely ruled out the appearance of Nightwing in Batgirl. However, she did speak a bit about the character’s journey in the movie, stating that the audience would see the character grow through the film, indicating that this chapter of Batgirl’s story won’t necessarily feature Nightwing.
The Bad Boys reportedly direct Batgirl for Life’s Bilall Fallah and Adil-El-Arbi. The script is written by Christina Hodson, who has worked in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and the soon-to-be-released The Flash movie.
The film is expected to have the plot of JK Simmons reprising his role as the Commissioner James Gordon, Michael Keaton in his perpetual role as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai. They are said to have been cast in currently-unknown roles.
“This is my second role only, but I’m always trying to learn from my colleagues and other friends,” Grace mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this year. “I’ve learned a lot of things about Barbara that align very well with me, my character, and my personality.” She said that Barbara is someone who’s been underestimated by her dad, and being the youngest kid, sometimes she indeed is insulated from all of the tough stuff of life, and thus she’s more than eager to prove herself to everybody else that there are some things that she can handle even if she is the youngest.
The actress also said, “I feel like I’m on an endless journey of proving to myself what barriers I can break and what limits I can cross for myself and I am more than just excited to put a lot of that eagerness and drive and a bit of stubbornness into Barbara, my on-screen character.”
The Batgirl is said to release on HBO Max, but the date has not been announced yet.
