Cha Cha Real Smooth is a 2022 American comedy-drama film written, directed, produced, and co-edited by Cooper Raiff.
It’s only natural that a movie about a bar mitzvah host filmed in Western Pennsylvania would make its local debut at a festival enjoying Jewish cinema.
“Cha Cha Real Smooth,” a movie from writer-director Cooper Raiff that filmed here the previous summer, will be making its Pittsburgh premiere in late April as the opening-night presentation of Film Pittsburgh’s 2022 film Festival. That’s almost a whole two months before the film officially premieres on June 17 on Apple TV.
In “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” Raiff plays the aforesaid bar mitzvah party host, who forms a powerful bond with Domino (Dakota Johnson) and her autistic daughter, Lola (Vanessa Burghardt).
This year will be the 29th iteration of Film Pittsburgh’s JFilm Festival and a return to in-person screenings after last year’s event was forced to go online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2022.
