Netflix has been streaming the martial arts comedy-drama, Cobra Kai, since August 2020, and soon, the first two installments of the series became the most-watched series on the OTT platform. The first season was watched on Netflix by 50 million member households in its first four weeks, making Cobra Kai the most-streamed show during September 2020. Between December 28, 2020, and January 3, 2021, it came in “second only to Netflix’s Bridgerton,” with over 2.6 billion viewing minutes.

Cobra Kai is the sequel to the original The Karate Kid films, which Robert Mark Kamen directed. The plotline is set 34 years after the original franchise, and in this, Cobra Kai continues the original Karate Kid saga, last seen in The Next Karate Kid, which was released in 1994.

The show has been steadily making known with its growing success and fantastic performance. To this date, the show has released four seasons which are being widely appreciated by fans, and Netflix is on its way to removing the fifth season, which is expected to stream on the website sometime in 2022.

The significant anticipation of the upcoming season is the take on the relationship of Johnny Lawrence and Miguel Diaz, who are played by William Zabka and Xolo Maridueña, respectively. In the future episode, fans are eagerly waiting to see their relationship evolve and turn into a father-son relationship, but this won’t be easy as the previous season, i.e., season 4, left these two characters were seen drifting apart, which was heartbreaking for fans as these characters have been the emotional anchor for the series since Season 1.

According to the series co-creator, Hayden Schlossberg, “Cobra Kai Season 5 answers the long asked question- — what would have happened had Daniel lost at the end of Karate Kid Part 3?”

This made the fans wonder if the statement hints that The Karate Kid 3 could influence Miguel’s story arc.

With this new theory, fans have been thinking about the upcoming storyline and how it would affect the relationship between the two as they have left their relationship on a bitter note with Miguel running off to Mexico to find his father because Johnny had become more worried about winning the tournament than him.

We can’t expect them to make the whole thing better with a clichĂ© plotline as that will thoroughly destroy the story’s potential; hence the only way to make the coming season more thrilling is to make Miguel’s father play a role as Silver did in Karate Kid 3. But all these are just theories, and the creators have provided no further updates, which left us all with our musings.

Whatever has been planned will surely be good enough and worth the wait. For further updates, stay tuned.
