Every new fictional story about witches and wizards may seem secondary to “Harry Potter,” the world of fantasy was a prosperous place long before we met the boy who lived.
“The Worst Witch” is a huge example of the ways that children’s stories were exploring fantasy in the pre-Potter era. The series of books was first publicized starting in 1974 and has been modified many times since.
The newest adaptation is still running and is a co-production between the CBBC, ZDF, and Netflix. The series confides the story of a group of witches who follow Cackle’s Academy. “Harry Potter,” the series is much less intensely serialized and has stayed more kid-friendly throughout its run.
Since its debut in 2017, “The Worst Witch” has picked up a dedicated following on Netflix in the U.S. and elsewhere in different countries. Now, several are interested in when a fifth season may come.
