According to Variety, the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series that is said to stream at Disney Plus has cast Walker Scobell as the lead.
The most awaited series adaptation of the popular Rick Riordan book series was started in January.
The action show is supposed to tell the fantastic tale of a 12-year-old modern demi-god (Scobell), who’s just on his way to acknowledging his newfound supernatural powers when in no time, the sky god Zeus accuses the little boy of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy ought to travel across America to find it and restore the order to Olympus. Percy can be described as a smart and compassionate teen with commendable humor.
He’s always regarded himself as an outsider because that is what he thinks how the world would see his ADHD and dyslexia. He’s impulsive and is quick to anger when things go unfair to him. But beneath all those layers, he is also an affectionate son and a loyal friend who just wants to care for those he loves.
Riordan and Jon Steinberg are co-writing the pilot for “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” under James Bobin’s direction. Steinberg and Dan Shotz serve as executive producers alongside Bobin, Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, and D.J. Goldberg.
