Netflix’s upcoming projects include a list of several Scandivanian films and shows. One such film is a Norwegian sci-fi comedy titled, Blasted, which is scheduled to hit the streaming platform sometime on June 28, 2022. The film is inspired by the real-life UFO phenomenon in Hessdalen, Norway, which has been reported several times a year since at least the 1930s.

Blasted will be directed by Martin Sofiedal, whose credits include a list of short films like Say hi, Night Snack, The Wrong Guy, and more. The plot is written by Emanuel Nordrum, whose specialties include short stories like The Culture and Love Hotel. It will be produced by Are Heidenstrøm of Miso Film and executively made by Peter Bose and Jonas Allen.

Heidenstrom shared his views on this topic: “It is very exciting to be the first Norwegian Sci-Fi comedy in production. We feel very privileged to work with Netflix and to make a film in such an unorthodox genre. Emanuel Nordrum and Martin Sofiedal have created an amazing story where we finally get clarity in the light phenomenon in Hessdalen.”

The trailer was released during Netflix’s Geeked Week event. The plot follows the childhood journey of two friends, Sebastian and Mikkel, who get reunited for Sebastian’s bachelor party. After meeting, they realize that Mikkel never matured past the teenage laser tag prodigy. Sebastian has grown into a career-obsessed workaholic who uses the party to schmooze a potential client. The plot thickens when the bachelor party gets ambushed by an alien invasion, and the survival depends upon Mikkel and Sebastian.

The movie stars Norwegian actors Axel Bøyum and Fredrik Skogsrudin as the lead characters and include Mathias Luppichini (Audun), André Sørum (Kasper), Eirik Hallert (Pelle), Evelyn Rasmussen Osazuwa (Stine) and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Hjørdis) as well. For further updates, stay tuned.
