Those who enjoy the art of speeding and love the thought of racing should check out the Netflix product, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, a documentary series that provides you with the pleasure of watching behind-the-scenes of numerous races of the Formula One World Championship.
The show is a collaboration between Netflix and Formula One. As of yet, the show has covered three major tournaments including, the 2018 World Championship, 2019 World Championship, and 2020 World Championship with another season ready to provide information and scenes about the 2021 World Championship.
With three previous seasons that runs 30 episodes long, the show has a few spins offs including a version of Drive to Survive that was released on F1 TV based around the 2019 Formula 2 Championship, called Chasing the Dream and its second season also premiered in 2020
Through exclusive interviews, the series uniquely covers the F1 season looking at the biggest news and stories in F1 for that year.
It thrived massive amounts of rage and has even been associated with growing viewing figures, extremely in the United States, of the sport.
In a report in late September 2021, more than 50 million people have searched the series on Netflix according to McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
Online sales for F1 commodities have grown substantially too with sales up 200% since 2017.
Netflix’s CEO, Reed Hastings has been on the record saying that going into the future, Netflix may consider picking up the Formula 1 rights. ESPN’s contract in showing the sport lapses by the end of 2022’s season
Julianne Cerasoli on Twitter, who is a Brazilian sports journalist, first broadcasted that the “Netflix film crew” was starting a new season by tailing Red Bull’s new signing for 2021, Sergio Perez. In a Tweet, she said:
‘A little behind the scenes: Perez is giving an interview via Zoom and, behold, two professionals who work on the filming of Netflix are behind him … it seems that they are already starting the fourth season even before the third premieres!’
Speaking on the podcast “In The Fast Lane” James Gay-Rees spoke about the fourth and potentially fifth season said That the next season [2022 season] will be difficult again because the new rules will come in and it’s going to be a slightly different scenario new cars, so it’s going to be pretty punchy, they would love to keep on going with it.
The fourth season of the hit documentary was announced in August 2021, nonetheless, a particular release date has not yet been confirmed. The show usually comes out in March, ahead of the following season. The 2022 season of the F1 begins on 20 March in Bahrain and so the documentary is expected to come out shortly before.
