Vampires are here to stay on Netflix, as another series based on the blood-sucking mythological creatures’ history is slated to debut. This time, though, instead of a prestige drama from Midnight Mass’ Mike Flanagan, the streamer will offer subscribers to First Kill, a young adult fantasy.
The series is a sapphic adolescent drama written by V.E. Schwab and starring scream queen Emma Roberts. Schwab will serve as the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer, and Roberts will produce the series alongside her closest friend, Karah Priess.
Here’s all we know about the impending Netflix original!
First Kill release update
Netflix has officially announced that the series will premiere on Friday, June 10, 2022, so we’re not far off!
Is First Kill based on a book?
While the series isn’t based on a book, it is inspired by Schwab’s short tale of the same name, which was published in the YA collection Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite. Her involvement in this live-action adaptation should be welcomed news for fans since it is not often that authors have such influence over the direction and growth of an adaptation.
First Kill total episode count
The first season will be of eight episodes in total, each of which will be around 60 minutes in duration, give or take.
