Forecasting Love and Weather is among the latest Netflix South Korean television series that debuted on the OTT platform on Saturday, February 12th, 2022. The show is directed by Cha Young-hoon and written by Seon Yeong.
The ongoing romantic comedy depicts the cheerful love story of people working in the Korea Meteorological Administration who break, fall, and rise again and their everyday life together in the office. The star cast includes Park Min-young, Song Kang, Yoon Park, and Yura.
The show’s first two episodes came on February 12 and 13, respectively, and so far, the show has received average ratings of 4.5 percent. The show circles around the lives of two polar-opposite characters working together. We were introduced to Jin Ha-Kyung, 34 years old, the general forecaster of the 2nd Division of KMA, and Lee Shi-woo, 27 years old, in charge of Special Reporting Division 2 of KMA.
We quickly realize that the leading characters have nothing in common in the first two episodes. On the one hand, Jin is intelligent and organized, and on the other hand, Lee is clear about maintaining the boundaries between her personal and professional life. These differences hint towards the cliché plotline, ‘Opposites Attracts.’
The first episode, “Signal,” shows Jin Ha-Kyung struggling under the pressure of her work as her company is unsuccessful in forecasting a hailstorm that struck the capital area. We also see Lee Si Woo being in a relationship where his partner is not faithful.
Fans get to enjoy the banter between the couple as Jin Ha Kyung and Lee Si Woo lock horns at their workplace. He disregards her decision to delay issuing a severe weather warning, despite him being a forecaster, compared to Jin Ha Kyung being the temporary Director.
Episode two, called “Sensible Temperature,” starts with Jin Ha Kyung dealing with her annoying ex-fiancé while Lee Si Woo seems frustrated by being assigned to her team for the next two weeks. We saw some warmth blossoming as the two bonds over their toxic exes and later on heads out to grab a drink. This not-so-date ends on a note with the declaration by Jin Ha Kyung that she is done dating people from the same workplace.
But her full resolution gets thrown when they make a drunken mistake that results in them walking side by side the following day. Jin Ha Kyung discards this whole situation, but it gets complicated when it comes out that Lee Si Woo has been assigned permanently to her team.
These two episodes set a light tone and make us believe that a beautiful romance is in the future for the fans. If you are looking for some cute moments to make you smile, you are in for a treat!
