Even though the first season of HBO’s highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series “House of the Dragon” has not aired, the company is already thinking about a Season 2. Speaking to Variety, Casey Bloys, HBO/HBO Max’s chief content officer, said that it would be a “pretty good bet” that another season of the show would be granted by HBO.
“If you’re betting on whether we’re going to do a second season, I think it’s probably a pretty good bet,” Bloys said. “Generally speaking, we usually let something air and see how it does, but obviously, we’ll make preparations ahead of time to make sure we’re ahead of the game.”
Right we don’t have info about House of the Dragon, but one thing we know is that it will tell the story of the Targaryens, who conquered and unified the realm of Westeros prior to the events of Game of Thrones.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” House of the Dragon chronicles the rise and the downfall of the Targaryens. It will take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones which aired its final episode nearly two years ago.
The 10-episode series will be led by Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. It will also feature Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Wil Johnson, Bill Patterson, Gavin Spokes, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Savannah Steyn, and Theo Nate.
