Tributes are on their way! After a long seven-year wait, there is an update on a new Hunger Games movie. During the 2022 CinemaCon, Lionsgate publicly revealed the theatrical release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the planned prequel to The Hunger Games. A movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ prequel book Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is scheduled.

Recap: the dystopian sovereign state of Panem was last seen in the trilogy’ final movie, which focused on the second part of the third novel, Mockingjay. President Snow’s (Donald Sutherland) government had been destroyed, a constitutional republic had been established, and the lovers and past winners of the Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) concluded the series as a happily married couple and raising a family in District 12 after eventually finding peace.

The story centers on teenage Coriolanus Snow, who we witnessed in the initial Hunger Games book and movie trilogy as the ruthless president of Panem. At the age of 18, Snow is assigned as a mentor to a girl tribute (resident) from the poor District 12, Lucy Gray Baird, during the 10th Hunger Games.

Will the prequel movie to the Hunger Games be available on Netflix?

Netflix is slowly (but steadily) purchasing more episodes of The Hunger Games. The prequel movie will be screened in theaters on November 17, 2023,. Plans for the movie’s streaming home haven’t been made official yet, although it will be released in theaters.

Netflix has announced that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 has released on its platform on Wednesday, February 28, which means that most chapters of the film series will be accessible soon.
