It’s been nearly twenty-five years since the release of Joss Whedon’s American Teen drama series, Buffy the vampire slayer, based on the 1992 film of the same name. The series is quite old, but it’s still fans’ favorite, and fans want to see more of it deep down.

So, this may be good news for them that the “Buffy the vampire slayer” reboot is officially happening, as confirmed by Deadline.

According to Deadline, the reboot is currently developing at Fox 21 TV Studios. Monica Owusu-Breen will serve as the screenwriter. John Whedon, who created the original series, is also expected to serve as an executive producer, alongside Gail Berman, Fran Kazui, and Kaz Kazui.

The details about the storyline and other things haven’t been revealed. Fans are wondering if the show will follow the storyline of the original show or would we get to something different.

The show writer, Monica Owusu-Breen, gave some clues regarding the reboot via her Twitter. She wrote, “There is only one Buffy. One Xander, one Willow, Giles, Cordelia, Oz, Tara, Kendra, Faith, Spike, Angel… They can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon’s brilliant and beautiful series can’t be replicated. I wouldn’t try to.”

Monica continued, “But here we are, twenty years later… And the world seems a lot scarier. So maybe, it could be time to meet a new Slayer….”

While the producers, on the other hand, didn’t reveal much about the series, they said, “Like our world, it will be richly diverse, and like the original, some aspects of the series could be seen as metaphors for issues facing us all today.”

The cast of the series is also kept a secret, no details have been revealed yet, but there’s speculation that Zendaya.

In an interview with Evan Ross Katz, the original series star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the leading character, Buffy, talked about who can play her character. Sarah said, “I vote Zendaya. I mean, same?”

However, it is still not confirmed yet. The release is yet to be announced. We might have to wait a bit longer for the trailer and release date as the series is in pre-production.
