Jessica Chastain opens up about her poverty-stricken childhood and her upbringing by a single mother, who struggled to feed her five kids at the time.

The Golden Globe-winning actress married Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo. She tied the knot with her Italian husband in 2017. She is now married into a noble Italian family and a parent to her two children.

Recently in an interview, she shared some intimate insights about her childhood. Chastain also admitted that how people expect her to be brought up in a different background with privileges she has a hold on now.
She told Sunday Times in a conversation “I don’t talk about it much, but it was really, um, it was not what you would expect. When people see me, I think they expect a different background than I have.”

She continued saying “I grew up with a lot of resentment because we didn’t have things, like even food.” “So because I come from that place, I know what it’s like, and it makes me angry. And I don’t want anyone else to be denied anything. In terms of a voice, being seen, being acknowledged and valued.”

The 355 star is now earning multi-million dollar paychecks for her acting roles in movies and enjoys the life of fame and wealth. She has then experienced how it feels like to be in such situations. The actress recently made headlines fighting for her female co-star on the latest box office hit The 355 featuring Lupita Nyong’o, Penѐlope Cruz, Diane Kruger, and Fan Bingbing.

Jessica also dropped light at a time in her childhood when she couldn’t afford the tuition fee of her school. She attended a local performing arts school in California when people who saw her struggle helped her. She said, “there were people that saw I was struggling as a kid and they helped me, and that’s why I ended up where I am now.” She landed a spot in the prestigious Julliard School in New York City, which she was able to pay for with the help of a scholarship funded by a late actor Robin Williams.

Chastain’s mother gave birth to her when she was 16, and a Sacramento native revealed that Chastain is the first person to not be pregnant at a young age in her family. It gave her a choice that those before her didn’t have.
This is not the first time ‘It Chapter Two’ star talked about her childhood in resentment in 2017 she revealed some details to Evening Standard saying “We stole food at the store because we didn’t have any money, and some people knew she was doing it but didn’t stop her. So there’s kindness everywhere. We’re okay now because people were protecting her.”
