The songs for the narrative, about a crocodile named Lyle who can dance and sing and is voiced by Shawn Mendes, were written by the acclaimed Justin Paul and Benj Pasek. The dup hired a group of songwriters to create foot-tapping, contagious songs. The exciting project was made even more so by Pasek and Paul’s early realization that Lyle would be a singing crocodile. Pasek says that when the voice actor changed to Shawn Mendes, it significantly impacted the writing style and target audience.Â
Along with Shawn Mendes, the film also features singing performances from Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Anthony Ramos, and other Lyle, Lyle, and Crocodile cast members. Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Pete Rodriguez, Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, and other artists are also featured on the soundtrack. Bring out the child in yourself by listening to the song.
