Legacies is a popular spin-off of the famous Fantasy drama, The Originals. The show follows the journey of the daughter of the most powerful vampires in the world, The Mikaelsons. It made its debut on October 25, 2018, and is currently airing its fourth season.
The season began on October 14, 2021, and the latest episode was broadcasted on March 31, 2022. The thirteenth episode of season four was titled “Was This the Monster You Saw?”.
Since its release on The CW, we have been introduced to multiple supernatural creatures. The list includes Headless Horseman, Dragon, Unicorn, Gorgon, Slugs, Dryad, Mummy, Jinni, Gargoyle, Necromancer, etc.
Yet the show has never taken inspiration from Stephen King.
King is an American author of horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, crime, science-fiction, and fantasy novels. He is often named the “King of Horror.” He has introduced many horrifying characters that are enough to bring nightmares in his career.
The latest episode, i.e., episode 13, “Was This The Monster You Saw?” The Legacies took inspiration from the author and re-created one of his most terrifying monsters. Season 4 is widely appreciated for expanding the show’s scope and setting and even introducing the concept of gods.
This episode properly took its time and presented a monster worthy of being placed alongside King’s characters. The creature was introduced in a forest and was spotted by Jed, who was about to make an intimate confession to Ben. The duo was interrupted by a hideous creature that surprised them, and he bit his shoulder. Those familiar with King’s work will instantly deduce the monster’s origin. It is adapted from the ‘IT’ antagonist, Pennywise.
Like Pennywise, Legacies’ monster is also presented as a clown with sharp teeth. Despite the similarities, the show recreated the film’s famous scenes where The demonic clown bites into Adrian’s armpit. The only difference was the place of the bite. Legacies’ clown also closely borrows from the themes of Pennywise preying on the fear that runs throughout Stephen King’s book and movie adaptations. For further updates, stay tuned.
