In 2022, Will Smith won his first Academy Award. His triumph was, however, overshadowed by an earlier incident in the show when, in response to a joke about his wife’s hair made by Chris Rock, he stormed the stage, struck Rock, and then yelled at him to “keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.” In addition to his capture in 2022, Smith has received two Best Actor nominations. These were for his roles as Muhammad Ali in the 2002 film “Ali” and Chris Gardner, a homeless salesman, in the 2006 film “Pursuit of Happyness.” Will Smith’s chances of soon winning another Oscar are very slim. Although he is not expressly prohibited from winning because of his ten-year Academy attendance ban, the fallout from the slap will likely mean that he will struggle to pick up nominations. After everyone knew about the incident last year, was the actor nominated for a 2023 Academy Award? The answer to that is no.
Emancipation, a movie on Apple TV+, is a Smith movie that would have qualified. The actor takes on the role of Peter, a real-life enslaved person who eludes his captors and must contend with the swamps of Louisiana and slave catchers who are pursuing him. However, the movie or the actor was not nominated for an Oscar in any category. ABC will broadcast the ceremony on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET. Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Paul Mescal, and Bill Nighy are up for this year’s Best Actor award. Has Smith received previous Academy recognition even though he wasn’t nominated this year?
The actor has received one Academy Award over the years. For his performance as Richard Williams in King Richard, he won the Best Actor category award in 2022. Smith has a total of three nominations after this victory in 2022. it would be interesting to find out about adding some new awards to the list.
