One Direction is the most famous and successful boyband of all time. The quintet was a synonym for record-breaking. Every member of the group was quite the heartthrob for every teenager. They always broke the internet every time they released something. Each sold-out tour was enough evidence of their success and fan following.
Despite the break of the group the legacy still lives on. As per the Guardian, 1D equaled the Beatles’ when three of the group members hit no.1 stateside with their solo initial release. As a boy band, they broke six Guinness World records in 2016 alone.
They are the most followed group on Twitter and have the most subscribers on YouTube. However, the Breaking of the recording didn’t end with the group split. Louis Tomlinson one of the members of the boyband marks the legacy with a new record.
According to iHeart, the singer official broke a Guinness World record in November 2021. The 1D alum sold the most tickets for a live-stream concert by a solo male artist. His concert “Live in London” raised over $1 million to aid four different charities.
The event took place in December 2020 and was watched by 160,000 viewers. The 30-year-old performed 18 songs including his very first debut song ‘Walls’ as a solo artist and covers of One Direction songs.
He has shared his gratitude for his achievement and celebrated it through Twitter thanking all the fans. He wrote “Can’t get my head around this! Thank you to anyone who watched the stream. Very proud moment!”
Tomlinson told Rolling stone about the time he took to release his album than rushing it through. He said, “I definitely could have made a quick record, a more trendy record. But I think it’s a big thing for me as a writer that it’s got to be believable coming out of my mouth. So lyrics are really important to me.”
He admitted to the fact that he will always love his band members and miss the time he spent with them. “I f**** love the boys, and I love everything we’ve done together and I still miss my time with them.”
