The Madness, a conspiracy thriller, received a series order from Netflix on February 8. The overall Netflix agreement with Chernin Entertainment covers the eight-episode limited series.
Stephen Belber, renowned for writing the script for the HBO film O.G., introduced the series and served as co-showrunner and executive producer. Executive producers include Jenno Topping, Peter Chernin, Clément Virgo, and Kaitlin Dahill.
Vice president at Netflix of scripted series for Canada and the U.S., Peter Friedlander, said: “The Madness is a movie based on the conspiracy thriller, turning the category on its head with its multi-layered cast, dynamic action, and rapid pace. Team Chernin continues to produce top-notch entertainment, and we are thrilled to have such a strong team together to bring this strong narrative to life for Netflix audiences worldwide.”
According to a press release from Netflix, here’s what the thriller series is about:
In THE MADNESS, media analyst MUNCIE DANIELS (Domingo) is forced to defend his life and innocence after discovering a murder in the Poconos woods. As the walls approach close around him, Muncie tries to reach his estranged family and his lost beliefs to survive.
The Madness’ Cast
Colman Domingo portrays Muncie Daniels as the main character. He is best recognized for his performances in Euphoria, Fear the Walking Dead, Zola, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Candyman. The only actor who has been announced so far is Domingo. Once filming starts, new cast members will be revealed.
The Madness’ release date
As of February 9, The thriller series’ principal photography has not yet started. Sadly, no information is available regarding the production timetable either. It will undoubtedly take some time before production begins because the show has only been ordered recently. However, it is expected that filming should begin this year.
