The crime-fighting series was created and produced by Jeff Davis. With 15 seasons and 324 episodes, the show became one of the network’s most-watched shows throughout its 15-year-long run.

The series revolves around a group of criminal profilers who work for the FBI as members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), using behavioral analysis and profiling to investigate crimes and find the UnSub (Unknown Subject).

Throughout its long run, many of its original cast consists of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), Jennifer Jareau (A. J. Cook), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) were changed and brought back. In February 2021, the news of the show’s revival hit the fans, but no further announcement made us believe that we have said our final goodbyes to our beloved characters.

Paget Brewster, who played the character of Emily Prentiss since the second season, has recently shared some exciting news regarding this long-awaited renewal. The actress’s latest interviews with Decider revealed her optimism regarding the show’s upcoming season.

Her statement when asked, ‘So the status of Criminal Minds coming back as a Paramount+ series… I guess it’s still an “it’ll happen when it happens” situation?’. It reads, “It is! And some people have been hired in preproduction, but none of the cast have signed their contracts yet. So I believe that ABC and CBS are still working out a licensing agreement. They have good faith, I believe, that we will be moving forward. We’ve been told.”

Her statement further revealed that everyone on the unit is requested to say their goodbyes to their loved ones as the shooting begins soon. She said, “… we all agreed in November: “Yes, we’re all on board, ready to sign.” So some other structure needs to be figured out before we can start. But we’re all very, very optimistic.”
