Pantone announced 2022’s Color of the Year as “Very Peri.”
Pantone’s color for the year 2021 was Ultimate Gray.
This announcement came on Wednesday, with the company naming the violet and periwinkle hue the year’s color, saying it encourages “personal inventiveness and creativity.”
On Twitter, Pantone wrote: “Introducing the Pantone Color of the Year 2022, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet-red undertone blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.”

Pantone said in a press release: “Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives.”
Pantone’s color for 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic was Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. As the pandemic continues, Very Peri is meant to signify “the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through.”
