Sex/Life is a highly popular American drama whose first season was watched by 67 million households in its first four weeks since its introduction for the first time on Netflix on June 25, 2021. The show is based on the novel, 44 Chapters About 4 Men written by BB Easton. According to multiple reviews, the show makes 50 Shades and 365 Days look tame.
Since this hot and sizzling plotline was able to maintain its presence in the top 10 most-watched shows across the world for more than two months, it wasn’t a surprise when the news of its returning with another season reached the fans on September 27, 2021. The official dates haven’t been disclosed so far.
The show is based on the cliché plotline consisting of a love triangle between a woman, her husband, and her past that takes a provocative new look at female identity and desire. Apart from that, the show offers so much more than just regular threesome romance. The concept follows the story of a woman’s daring sexual past that ends up colliding with her married-with-kids present when the bad-boy ex she can’t stop fantasizing about crashes back into her life.
In season one we were introduced to Billie Connelly, played by Sarah Shahi, former Columbia University psychology Ph.D. candidate, mother of two, and housewife in an affluent suburban Connecticut community who is suffering from a severe midlife crisis, yearning for the fast-paced life she had with her ex-boyfriend Brad. With this complicated female lead, the story revealed Cooper Connelly, played by Mike Vogel who plays the character of Billie’s straight-laced husband who is an investment banker.
The arrival of the third main lead was what made this story filled with multiple erotic scenes. Brad Simon, Billie’s well-endowed ex-boyfriend is in her life again and trying to win her back even though Billie is married with children. He is a famous music producer and CEO of a record label that he founded. The character is played by Adam Demos.
In the previous season that concluded in 8 episodes, we bid farewell to season 1 with Billie making a split-second decision to pursue a physical relationship with her sexy old flame, Brad, while still having full intentions of staying married to her husband, Cooper. We watched her desperately trying to catch Brad before it was too late and her location being tracked by her husband through their family location-tracking app. And Just when Cooper saw Billie’s pin hovering in SoHo by Brad’s apartment, the screen pans to black leaving us all with this torturous cliffhanger.
Hopefully, the coming season won’t make us wait much longer and answer the most anticipated questions, Will Brad say yes? Or will he only take Billie up on her offer if it’s Billie and Billie alone, with Cooper firmly out of the picture? And what about Cooper? Will he end the relationship?
