Music lovers all across the globe were highly excited for the upcoming world tour of the Canadian singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes which was scheduled to hit the roads on June 27, 2022 beginning from Portland, United States.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic all over the globe, the musician had to change his plans to maintain the safety protocols issued by governments worldwide. The ‘Treat You Better singer shared this devastating news with his fans through his Instagram handle on January 28, 2022, where he apologized for the delay and explained the reasons behind it.
His statement reads, “This was a really difficult decision to make. But unfortunately, we have to reschedule the UK and EU tour from 2022 to 2023.”
His reason behind this sudden shift in dates read, “With all of the logistical, travel and venue restrictions still uncertain in Europe due to the pandemic, we were forced to make the tough decision of moving the tour leg to the end of the tour when we are confident we are able to travel and can put on the best possible show we want to, safely and at full capacity. I’m so sorry I won’t be able to see you guys sooner.”
Wonder: The World Tour is the fifth concert tour of Mendes which is decided in support of his fourth studio album called Wonder which hit the charts on December 4, 2020. He announced this tour on 20 September 2020 and shared that the tour will follow through Europe and North America.
Now, the Mercy star will perform on his first destination, Bologna, IT on May 31, 2023, and will end the tour in Dublin, IE on August 1, 2023, with his final performance.
Before this tour, the singer has done four more tours named, Shawn’s First Headlines (2014-2015), Shawn Mendes World Tour (2016), Illuminate World Tour, and Shawn Mendes (2017), The Tour (2019).
While his fans were disheartened at the delay in his tour, he made them excited by dropping a hint of his upcoming music videos. His concluding statement was, “I am working on a ton of new music for you all! I’m excited for you to hear.”
Apart from his professional life, fans have been eagerly waiting for some kind of update in his personal life focusing on his relationship with Camila Cabello. Although separated two months ago, the star appears to have had a beautiful friendship till this date as Camila recently left a comment on his Instagram where Mendes left the caption, “Y’all dig this?” to which the actress replied, “Ur crazy wildcat.”
