Mission: Impossible 7 is the seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible film series scheduled to hit the big screens on July 14, 2023. The movie is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, making it the third in the series directed by him.
The official announcement of the continuation of this franchise came in January 2019 when it was revealed that the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films would be shot back-to-back with McQuarrie writing and directing both movies for July 23, 2021, and August 5, 2022. Unfortunately, due to some unavoidable circumstances, the film will hit the big screens in 2023.
The movie is one of the highly anticipated ones and will show Hunt and his badass team on yet another world-saving adventure. Tom Cruise headlines the cast, reprising his lead role as Ethan Hunt. Besides Cruise, Mission: Impossible 7 will also bring back the beloved characters of Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Frederick Schmidt, all of whom will be back in their old roles from the previous films.
Along with the old character coming back on the big screens, the movie will also bring several new cast members into the Mission: Impossible franchise including Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Cary Elwes.
With these amazing actors coming together, Christopher McQuarrie has also teased the fans with a mysterious cast member whose identity hasn’t been disclosed yet. His words read, “There is someone we were talking to before the world blew up, An actor I was very excited about. I don’t know where that is, because we had talked days before [the shutdown] and it was an incredibly exciting casting coup.”
One of the strong points of Cruise is that he performs his stunts himself and this time wouldn’t be different either. Tom Cruise will continue to do his stunts in Mission: Impossible 7. And according to Simon Pegg, this time, he’ll be taking things to a whole other level.
A glimpse of the upcoming action thriller was seen in a video that was shot during CinemaCon 2021 where Tom was seen doing a stunt that he describes as his “most dangerous stunt ever.”
The clip showed him riding a motorcycle up a ramp and off a cliff, jumping off said motorcycle, and then parachuting to the ground.
Simon described the stunts in the movie as ‘absurd’. His statement was, “Oh it’s absurd, I mean, the stuff he did for [Mission: Impossible] 7 was just kind of terrifying!”
He further disclosed the stunts that the actor will be performing in the eighth installment of the franchise. He said, “…I just saw footage of what he’s doing for 8 and it just terrifies me. I just hope they pay me anyway, you know?”
While being questioned about the ongoing production of the upcoming franchise he revealed that the seventh installment is almost finished. “You know, 7 is pretty much tied up, but there’ll be stuff that we return to and also kind of maybe even change, I don’t know, but we have that luxury because we’re going on to make 8 now. So yeah, 7 I think is pretty much wrapped up!”
