The American television series, Star Trek: Discovery, was renewed for its fifth season in January 2022. Since then, fans can’t keep calm and are curious to know further details about the upcoming season.
Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman created the series based on Star Trek: The original series by Gene Roddenberry. The series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Jason Isaacs, Wilson Cruz, Anson Mount, David Ajala, Rachael Ancheril, Blu del Barrio, and Tig Notaro as the main characters of the series.
The series is the seventh in the Star Trek franchise and the first since Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005.
The series initially premiered on September 24, 2017, on CBS and CBS All Access; the rest of the season 1 episode was released every week. Season 2 ran from January 17 to April 18, 2019, and season 3 from October 15, 2020, to January 7, 2021. For the fourth season, the show was rebranded as Paramount Plus and released on November 18, 2021.
The plot follows the crew of the starship Discovery, beginning a decade before Star Trek: The Original Series in the 23rd century. In the second season’s finale, Discovery travels to the 32nd century, which is the setting for subsequent seasons. We are more likely to see what’s out there in the 32nd century in season 5.
The plot and casting haven’t been revealed yet, and the production hasn’t started yet, so it’s still unknown what will happen in season 5. But, one thing we can be sure of is that the previous cast will return for season 5, with ten episodes.
Season 5 is likely to be released in 2023, so it seems like fans will have to wait for almost a year for another season of Star Trek: Discovery. If we look back at the release dates of previous seasons, season 5 is more likely to be released around October or November.
Meanwhile, fans can still binge-watch all four seasons of the show.
