The Crown is among Netflix’s top-rated Historical dramas based on the tale about Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The show made its debut on 4 November 2016. Since the beginning, the show has received positive reviews from the viewers and had to go through backlash from British critics and the royal family for its fourth season due to the storyline being “inaccurate” and “anti-monarchy.”

Since it arrived in 2016, the show has received numerous accolades, including a total of sixty-three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for its first four seasons, winning twenty-one, including Outstanding Drama Series for its fourth season, and seven awards for the cast.

The series was created and primarily written by Peter Morgan, and it is produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for Netflix. According to Morgan, the story is inspired by his 2006’s drama film ‘The Queen’ and by his 2009’s stage play ‘The Audience’.

The show has released four seasons so far, consisting of 40 episodes. The previous season concluded on 15 November 2020. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the fifth season. The upcoming season approval came in January 2020 when Morgan announced that the series had been renewed for a fifth and final season. But later in July 2020, Netflix announced that the series would receive a sixth season as initially intended.

The filming of season five began in July 2021. The show is expected to hit the screens in November 2022, which was revealed in September 2021 through a Twitter post that reads,. “A message from Imelda Staunton, our new Queen Elizabeth. Season 5, coming November 2022,”

In the coming episodes, we will see Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, and Actor Jonathan Pryce will appear in the role of Price Philips. Along with them, fans will see Lesley Manville, Dominic West, and Elizabeth Debicki in Princess Margaret, Prince Charles, and Princess Diana, respectively.

The plot of the coming episodes hasn’t been disclosed so far, but according to various reports, we should expect to see the events of 1992 when most of Queen’s children’s marriages fell apart. It will also focus on the divorce of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. In the recent photographs from the sets of The Crown, we saw Debicki in the iconic black dress where the remarkable scene of Princess Diana stepping out of the car in a black dress took place. We all are pretty eager to see how the show has dealt with the rollercoaster ride of the Royal family’s lives.
