The American sports comedy series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” s the first season, was released on March 26, 2021, on the streaming service Disney plus.

Steve Brill, Josh Goldsmith, Cathy Yuspa developed the series, a continuation, and adaptation of the 1992 released film, The mighty ducks, by Steve Brill, who also served as head writer for the series.

The series features Gilmore Girls actress Lauren Graham with Emilio Estevez reprising his beloved role as Gordon Bombay from the original 1992 movie. Alongside them, it stars Brady Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Julee Cerda, Luke Islam, Bella Higginbotham, Taegen Burns, Kiefer O’Reilly, De’Jon Watts, Emilio Estevez, and Josh Duhamel as the main cast.

In August 2021, the series was renewed for a second season as the first season of the series received positive reviews from the audiences, unlike the movie, which the critics panned.

There’s good and bad news for fans who have been waiting for season 2 of the series.
There’s a cast update for the upcoming season.

Emilio Estevez previously announced his departure from the show for season 2 as he disagreed with the show’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement for cast and crew.

The Outsiders star, who also served as an executive producer on the show, confirmed in November 2021 that he would not be part of the second season, as reported by Deadline.

Estevez said in a statement: “I am not anti-vax. Full stop. I take this pandemic very seriously, and I am often teased about my continued following of the safety protocols and my abundance of caution. … To the fans of the franchise – I am as disappointed as you are. To my Ducks cast and crew – have a wonderful season 2 on the show and please know that I will miss you all.”

He further said, “It was an honour and a thrill to be able to return as the iconic and beloved character, Gordon Bombay, a character which has been a celebrated benchmark in my 40-year career. And I thank the studio and the producers for creating an opportunity to allow me to visit him again.”

On the other hand, Josh Duhamel joins the cast of The Mighty Ducks as the new head coach replacing Emilio.

More details regarding season 2 are yet to be announced; we expect season 2 to arrive in the summer of 2022 or maybe later than that. Meanwhile, we can stream season 1 Disney plus.
