The news of the members returning from the original cast has excited the fans for its revival. The show has been running for the past fifteen years and is expected to appear with another season soon. It made its debut on September 22, 2005, and was supposed to be concluded on February 19, 2020, but its reboot was announced in February 2021.
What drew the audiences toward CBS’s top-rated police procedural crime drama, Criminal Minds, was the portrayal of our beloved characters as the knowledgeable Supervisory Special Agents of the FBI as members of its Behavioural Analysis Unit.
Among our favorite characters was Alex Blake. Her character was first introduced in season eight, episode one, called “The Silencer.” She came in as a replacement for Emily Prentiss, who had resigned to go and run Interpol.
Alex joined the BAU to restore her reputation after being blamed for arresting the wrong suspect in the Amerithrax case, and Section Chief Erin Strauss let her take the fall. She was recruited to the FBI at 24, making her one of at least two team members to join the Bureau in their early 20s, along with Spencer Reid.
Her character continued to feature on-screen till season 9, and in the first episode of season 10, it was confirmed that she had left to return to teaching.
Jeanne Tripplehorn played Blake. Her departure from the team was sudden yet completely non-dramatic, which suited her character. Her leave was that her contract with the show was up, and after two seasons, she was ready to leave Alex Blake behind. Blake’s exit was subtle but heartbreaking, and she left us with a tragic discovery that gave us an insight into her private nature.
