The umbrella academy is soon returning for its third season 3, but there has been an update regarding the ratings for the upcoming season.

Recently, Netflix just changed the series’ season 3 ratings to TV-MA, which held a TV-14 age rating for the first and second seasons.

Netflix has never hesitated to make a series like an umbrella academy, which consists of heavy language, violence, drugs, and various kinds of death themes.
Changing the ratings for season 3 clearly indicates that the series will have some other level of content.

Change in rating means that parents were “strongly cautioned” as the “program contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.”

One of the main characters of the series, Klaus Hargreeves (played by Robert Sheehan), individually has the power to raise the ratings because of his drug and alcohol addiction.

The Umbrella Academy Netflix page says “language, smoking” are the only things quoted. Audiences can also expect stronger language in the upcoming season. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 rating info would reflect increased nudity or violence.

According to the TV parental Guidelines, TV-MA cautions against “crude indecent language (L), explicit sexual activity (S), or graphic violence (V).” This means the streamer now considers the show only for those above Seventeen.

Previously, the showrunner of Umbrella Academy, Steve Blackman discussed with ComicBook.com the characters.
Steve said, “I am very close with Gerard and Gabriel, so I pitch them the season before I do it, let them know what I’m doing, They’re very kind, and they’re pitching me where they’re going in the next volumes, and you know, the two mediums are sort of crossing over now.”

“Sometimes they’re looking at something I do and say, ‘We should put that in the graphic novel,’ and they’re saying, ‘well, why don’t you do this in the show.” The showrunner added. “We accept they’re sort of different things, but we love any time we can find these crossovers. But I have a good sense of where they’re going. I have an idea of where I want to go, and we’re sort of working together to get to that happy place.”

Season 3 of the umbrella Academy will release on June 22, 2022.
