The Vampire Diaries is a top-rated supernatural teen drama television series that debuted on The CW on September 10, 2009. The show is based and inspired by the young adult vampire fiction series of novels created by L. J. Smith.

The show ran for almost eight years before concluding its eighth season on March 10, 2017. Throughout its 171 episodes, the show received positive reviews from the audience that urged the writers to release two spin-offs. The Originals and Legacies gained position recognition among the fans as well.

The show revolves around the life of Elena Gilbert, a teenage girl who has just lost both parents in a car accident. While dealing with their deaths, she comes across two vampires, Stefan Salvatore and Damon Salvatore, who gives her hope for her future. Set in an ordinary town of Mystic Falls, where nothing wrong ever happens, the story introduces multiple supernatural species that become an integral part of the town’s life.

Throughout 171 episodes, the plotline introduced the viewers to many powerful magical artifacts that will be ranked today.

First, on the list, we have THE CURE. The cure for vampirism was first introduced after the introduction of Silas, and it belonged to Qetsiyah and is considered the most lethal and powerful thing in The Vampire Diaries. Drinking the cure also made the drinker’s blood into the cure, which meant that the potion never really ended. It can regenerate itself.

Second, in line, we have GILBERT RINGS. These powerful yet highly dangerous rings were introduced through Alaric Saltzman and later revealed to belong to Isobel Flemming; they belonged to the Gilbert family and are their heirloom. The rings are a way to cheat death under magical circumstances.

Third, we have PHOENIX SWORD AND STONE. They belonged to Rayna and were said to be the banes of a vampire’s existence. The sword has the power to incapacitate while the stone sucks the soul out of the vampire and works as a barrier to hold the monster.

Next, we have WHITE OAK STAKES. These were the only weakness of Mikaelsons. Created and fortified to be indestructible by the original witch, these wood could end the life of any Original Vampire, which made it lethal. They were used in multiple plots to terminate the original vampires and took the life of all at least once.

Last up, we have THE MOONSTONE. This piece of magical energy was the beginning of the end of Doppelgängers. It belonged to Bennett witches and was used to break the hybrid curse of Klaus. With the blood of the doppelganger, a vampire, a werewolf, and the right lunar conditions, the Moonstone brought out Klaus’ werewolf side.
