The Watcher, a highly anticipated limited series based on actual terrifying events featured in New York Magazine’s The Cut, will not premiere on Netflix in May 2022. The series is based on an article published in the magazine in 2018 that piqued many people’s interest with the chilling tagline, “A family bought their dream house. But, judging on the disturbing notes they began to get, they weren’t the only ones.”
According to the post, the Broaddus family began getting “terrifying letters” from an unknown stranger who knew personal information about their lives, informing them that their “dream home” and young children were constantly monitored. He referred to himself as “The Watcher.” The story stirred speculation and pointed fingers at who may be responsible.
Netflix purchased the rights to the tale shortly after it was published and began developing the project. But, over four years later, we’re still waiting for the series to be released. So, how much longer must we wait? When will The Watcher be available to watch?
The Watcher release update.
Despite The Watcher’s IMDb release date of 2022, Netflix has yet to confirm an official release date for the limited series. However, we believe that the series will be available by the end of 2022.
On February 18, 2022, the series, starring Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, and Jennifer Coolidge, entered post-production. Depending on how much editing and special effects are needed for the picture, the post-production stage can span six to eight months (sometimes longer). If this is the case with Netflix’s The Watcher, it might suggest that the series won’t debut until the winter, at the very least in late 2022.
