Thor: Love and Thunder, the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the upcoming direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok (2017). Being a part of Phase Four of the MCU the movie is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 8, 2022.
The official announcement of the fourth Thor-centred film came in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con where the Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the film named Thor: Love and Thunder, with a release date of November 5, 2021. Although the release date had to be shifted a few times due to the ongoing pandemic before finalizing the month of July 2022.
According to the sources, the upcoming franchise will also address the sexuality of Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson making her the first LGBTQ superhero. Along with this, Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman will also be returning in the sequel.
Natalie agreed to return to the franchise after a single meeting with the director, in which he interested her by offering to reprise the character in a different, fresh way. Due to this, there are rumors that the upcoming franchise will transform Jane into the Mighty Thor by following the comics.
Doctor Jane Foster was first introduced in the first franchise of the Norse god, Thor in 2011 and made her last appearance in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World.
It will be her first time returning to her role since 2013.
As per some of the famous Marvel leakers, Jane’s character is not just returning as a side character. She will be returning as a major character in the movie. Much like she did in the comics, the film will feature Jane transforming into The Mighty Thor.
As of today, fans are still unclear about who remains in the team of superheroes who called themselves, The Avengers. After losing two of their leaders i.e, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, the well-known team has unfortunately faded into the background in the years since Avengers: Endgame. Hence, no one knows who remains the members and who will be the next leader of the team.
These leaks of Jane getting her very own major plotline have made fans anxious and excited to see her becoming the dominant character as she has always been written in the comics.
