After taking a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Natalie Portman” is back with more power than ever, as shown in the first teaser for “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The film would mark the fourth in the “Thor” series, directed by Taika Waititi, who helmed the appreciation for the well-received “Thor: Ragnarok.”

The movie would follow “Avengers: Endgame,” which ended with Thor Odinson (played by Chris Hemsworth), adrift after the fall of his kingdom Asgard, as he leaves the Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The teaser begins by showing him as a group member, with Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel set to act in their respective roles.

Previous MCU stars, who are said to be Tessa Thompson and Waititi himself, would also repeatedly return for the film. Still, the brink moment of the teaser can be seen in the final seconds when Portman’s Jane Foster is revealed to be the new Mighty Thor.

At the beginning of the trailer, one can see Thor on a quest for self-discovery. “These hands were once used for battle and now they’re but humble tools for peace,” he says in a dialogue voiceover as he puts aside his new hammer called the Stormbreaker and watches a sunset. “Now I need to figure out who I am.” In addition to old faces, “Love and Thunder” is also said to introduce some new cast members to the franchise.

Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher is the most recent addition to the Marvel canon, as Aaron and Esad Ribic created it in 2013. Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone are also expected to make cameo appearances, and Jenny Morris and Simon Russell Beale have been cast but in undisclosed roles.
Waititi is said to have co-written the script for the film and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, and it is reportedly produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum and, of course, Marvel Studios.

The movie was filmed in Sydney, Australia, last year after repeatedly getting delayed due to the pandemic.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is all set to premiere in the theatres on the 8th of July.
