Netflix’s upcoming horror-comedy streaming television series is set to make its appearance sometime before the end of 2022. The show is based on the character, Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family.

‘Wednesday’ Friday Addams is a fictional character created by Charles Addams, who had several appearances in television, films, and video games. The character’s name was inspired by a nursery rhyme that reads, “Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”
Wednesday is the sister of Pugsley Addams and the only daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams. The character Wednesday was first introduced in The New Yorker in 1938.

The knowledge of Netflix winning the bidding war by beating all of its competitors to earn the exclusive global distribution rights for the upcoming Tim Burton-directed Addams Family TV show came out in February 2021. It was revealed that Netflix had given the production a series order, consisting of eight episodes. Al Gough and Miles Millar create the family fantasy.

The show will be filmed under the supervision of the legendary director Tim Burton who is known for being part of spectacular films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Corpse Bride, and many more. Burton is joined by Jon Glickman, Andrew Mittman, and Gail Berman as fellow producers on the Original. This series will be even more anticipated as it will be Burton’s TV directorial debut.

Wednesday will revolve around the Wednesday Addams misadventures as a student at Nevermore Academy, a unique boarding school founded two centuries ago, located in deepest New England. We will get to see her struggles as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability. The plot will gain momentum when the Mysterious killings terrorize the local town. Fans will be introduced to the four main cliques, a school of outcasts. We will see the Fangs (vampires), the Furs (werewolves), the Scales (sirens), and the Stoners.

In the iconic role of Wednesday, we will see the 19-year-old Jenna Ortega, who is known for her role on The CW comedy-drama series Jane the Virgin as Young Jane and as Harley Diaz in the Disney series Stuck in the Middle. Embodying Morticia Addams and Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán has joined the cast. Other actors who will make their presence known in the show are Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Joy Sunday, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, and Thora Birch.

With no release date so far disclosed, we are somewhat unsure, but hopefully, the show will make its appearance before the end of 2022. For further updates, stay tuned.
