After six years, the British television drama series Waterloo Road is set to come back in 2022.
The series first aired in 2006. On March 9th, the first episode of the series was broadcasted.
The core cast of the series includes Jason Done, Katie Griffiths, Charles Healey, Phillip Martin, Phoebe Dynevor, Adam Thomas, Angela Griffin, Regé page, Eva pop, Lauren Drummond, and many more.
The series has ten seasons with 200 episodes in total.
It’s not surprising that Waterloo Road had remained popular and consistently been among the top five most-watched shows for young audiences on BBC iPlayer after being released in September 2019.
The BBC is now bringing back the popular drama after nearly six years.
Previously, explaining the decision of making a comeback of the series, the director of British drama Piers Wenger told What To Watch: “It was an incredibly difficult decision that took time to come to. We had clear direction on wanting to make more drama across the UK. We had EastEnders, Holby in the south and Casualty in Wales. We need dramas to better reflect life in the north of England which is why we’ve chosen to bring back Waterloo Road.”
Meanwhile, Actor Katie Griffiths, who portrayed Chlo Grainger in the series, also verified that Waterloo Road would be coming to BBC iPlayer “later this year” through an Instagram post announcing her return.
However, an official release date is yet to be announced, but we can assume it will arrive in 2022. Fans are already glad about the comeback.
There will be a cast update too. BBC had announced Kym Marsh would join the cast of the series. The 45-year-old actress will play Nicky Walters, a school canteen worker.
