Hulu’s drama series, Dopesick, hasn’t been renewed for a second season yet, and fans are looking forward to the second season happening.
Danny Strong created the series based on the nonfiction book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America by Beth Macy.
The mini-drama series was executive produced by Beth Macy, John Goldwyn, Warren Littlefield, Karen Rosenfelt, Barry Levinson, and Michael Keaton.
It features Batman star Michael Keaton. Micheal Keaton is known for portraying Bruce Wayne in 19s films Batman, Batman Returns, Batgirl, and The Flash. Alongside him, the show stars Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, John Hoogenakker, Kaitlyn Dever, and Rosario Dawson as the core case of Dopesick.
Season 1 of Dopesick premiered on Hulu on October 13, 2021, with its first three episodes out of eight.
The rest of the Five episodes were released every Wednesday.
The series was created as a miniseries, meaning that the story is concluded within one season. There have been a few exceptions to this rule, but Dopesick is not expected to return.
As the show was based on Beth Macy’s Non-fiction book, it covered the majority of the story in season 1, which means there is nothing left to show in the second season.
As of April 2022, there’s still no announcement regarding the series’s renewal status, which was released in October 2021. Generally, the streamer takes two to three months to renew the series, but it has almost been seven months, and there is still is no update for a second season. So, we can assume here that the second season is unfortunately not happening.
